Maine offers a strong network of disability services, from the statewide advocacy of Disability Rights Maine to the hands-on independence support at Alpha One. If you need help finding or keeping a job, the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation provides free counseling and training. State program helping people with disabilities prepare for, find, and maintain employment. Provides vocational counseling, job training, assistive technology, and job placement services. Offices located throughout Maine.

State office coordinating services for older adults and people with disabilities in Maine. Administers programs for intellectual disabilities, brain injury, adult protective services, and long-term care.
Social Security Administration
Federal office for applying for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI). Handles disability benefit applications, appeals, and ongoing benefit management.
Maine CITE Coordinating Center
Statewide program helping people with disabilities access assistive technology to increase independence. Provides information, demonstrations, equipment loans, and training on devices ranging from simple tools to complex computer systems.
Community Health and Counseling Services (CHCS)
Comprehensive community health agency serving eastern and central Maine. Provides mental health services, behavioral health support, crisis intervention, residential services, and home health care for adults and children with disabilities.
Creative Works (formerly Creative Work Systems)
Serves over 500 adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism, and brain injury each year. Provides employment services with competitive wages, community programs, and residential support across southern and central Maine.

Provides home support, employment services, community support, behavioral health, and independent living programs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in midcoast Maine.
Special Olympics Maine
Year-round sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Programs include Unified Sports, Young Athletes (ages 2-7), Healthy Athletes screenings, and leadership development.
