Open to anyone in Maine affected by mental health conditions, including individuals, family members, caregivers, and supporters. All programs are free. No diagnosis, referral, or insurance needed.

NAMI Maine (National Alliance on Mental Illness - Maine) is the state's leading grassroots mental health organization. They provide education, support, and advocacy for people living with mental health conditions and their families. All programs are free and led by trained peers and family members with lived experience.

Services offered

  • Family-to-Family education program (free 8-session course for family members)
  • Peer-to-Peer education program (free 8-session course for adults living with mental health conditions)
  • Support groups for family members and individuals (statewide)
  • NAMI Basics (program for parents and caregivers of children with mental health conditions)

  • Mental health advocacy at the state legislature
  • In Our Own Voice presentations (speakers share recovery stories)
  • Crisis intervention training for law enforcement

Visit namimaine.org or call 1-800-464-5767 to find a support group or education program near you. Programs are held at community locations across the state. All facilitators are trained peers or family members with lived experience.
