Use the directory without creating an account. This page explains the information used to run the site and how to turn off its analytics in this browser.

Searches and optional location

Directory search uses the site's public resource indexes in your browser. We do not send the words you type into those search controls to analytics. Town and category selections may appear in page addresses so that you can return to the same listing.

“Use my location” asks for browser permission after you choose it. Coordinates are used in memory to find a nearby listed town. The site does not store precise device coordinates or add them to page addresses or analytics. You can select a town yourself instead.

Crisis and domestic-violence pages

Crisis and domestic-violence pages, protected resource details and the mental-health guide omit our Google Analytics and first-party pageview code. These pages also ask the browser not to send their address as a referrer when you leave. Clicks on links to 988, 911, crisis and domestic-violence pages and protected resources are never recorded, on any page of the site.

“Leave this site” replaces the current page. It does not erase browser history or make a monitored device safe. If someone may monitor your browsing, consider using a safer device. Websites you open have their own privacy practices.

Analytics on other pages

Google Analytics 4 helps us understand visits and interactions such as ordinary contact-link clicks. It can use cookies and browser identifiers. Our analytics configuration sends page addresses without their query strings or fragments, and referring website origins rather than referring page details. A phone-link click does not tell us whether a call connected or whether someone received help.

A separate first-party system records a page path, time, referring website origin, device category and approximate country, region and city supplied by our hosting provider. It also records clicks on other links and buttons: the type of click, the page and the link destination without its query string or fragment, with no names, email addresses or other personal details. A random identifier and page sequence in sessionStorage link pageviews within a browser tab. This identifier is not a name, but the resulting records should not be treated as anonymous. Our pageview code does not store a raw IP address or collect campaign-query values.

Turn analytics off or on

Turn off analytics in this browser before continuing to browse. This saves a preference in localStorage and prevents our analytics scripts, events and first-party pageviews from starting. Turn analytics back on if you change your mind.

The preference applies to this browser's storage, not to every device you use. If storage is blocked, the choice still applies to the page opened with the control link, but it may not persist to the next page. Clearing browser storage removes the saved preference. These controls do not erase existing records or prevent the requests needed to load and protect the website.

Hosting, fonts and outside services

Cloudflare serves and protects the site. Google Fonts supplies the shared typefaces, including on pages where our analytics is disabled. Loading these services involves network requests and may reveal your IP address to the service provider. Analytics opt-out does not stop those essential page or font requests.

Links to providers, maps and other websites take you to services with their own policies. We do not receive the contents of calls or texts made through contact links, and a directory visit does not establish eligibility or create an application with a provider.

Contact and corrections
