AdoptUSKids is a national project that connects prospective adoptive families with children waiting in foster care. Their Maine page provides state-specific information about becoming a foster or adoptive parent, lists licensed adoption agencies, and maintains photo listings of children in Maine DHHS custody who are waiting for adoptive families. There are approximately 1,900 children in Maine DHHS custody, and about 100 children have an adoption goal and are waiting for families.
