How to get started
The administrator must issue a written eligibility decision within 24 hours after receiving a completed application.
Download the application.
Download the General Assistance application form from the City of Calais website.
Apply in person.
Apply at the Calais City Building on Monday, or Tuesday if Monday is a holiday, during the posted hours.
Get emergency help.
For an emergency at other times, applications are by appointment. Contact Calais Police at 454-2752 or non-emergency dispatch at 1-800-432-7303.
