Tuition waiver for foster and adopted youth attending Maine colleges and universities. Available to youth adopted from Maine foster care with DHHS subsidies and wards of permanency guardians. Applications open each March on a first-come, first-served basis.

Youth adopted from Maine's foster care program with adoption subsidies from Maine DHHS, or minors who are wards of a permanency guardian with guardian subsidies from Maine DHHS. Must attend an eligible Maine institution.

About this resource

The Finance Authority of Maine (FAME) administers the Tuition Waiver Program for foster and adopted youth. This program waives tuition at Maine's public colleges and universities for eligible youth who were adopted from the Maine foster care system with adoption subsidies from DHHS, or who are wards of permanency guardians with guardian subsidies from DHHS. Applications open on the first business day of March each year and are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

What to bring
