About this resource

The Maine Adoption Reunion Registry was established in 1979 as an official state program to help birth parents, adoptees, and birth siblings reconnect. The registry is maintained by the Division of Data, Research, and Vital Statistics within Maine CDC. Over 2,000 individuals have registered. When mutual consent is established between parties, the registry facilitates reunions. Maine law also allows adult adoptees to access their original birth certificates without court order or birth parent consent.
