How they can help.
The Division of Support Enforcement and Recovery runs Maine Child Support Services. It helps with paternity, child support obligations, and locating parents. It does not handle custody matters or provide legal advice.
- Establishing paternity
- Determining child support obligations
- Collecting child support payments
- Enforcing child support obligations
- Locating parents
A few questions before you go.
Have a copy of the child's birth certificate ready. If the child was born outside Maine, use a certified copy. Include a complete court order; for an order from another state or jurisdiction, send three certified copies. If the other parent owes child support debt, include the completed Statement of Child Support Paid attached to the application package.
- Can the program help establish paternity?
- What documents should I include with my application?
- Could an annual fee apply to my case?
- Can the program help locate the other parent?
