The Emergency Department is open 24 hours a day for emergency care. For primary care or specialty appointments, use MDI’s current health-center contact list to reach the appropriate office.

Mount Desert Island Hospital is an independent nonprofit Critical Access Hospital with 25 beds and a network of health centers in Bar Harbor, Northeast Harbor, Southwest Harbor, and Trenton. The hospital provides emergency care, surgery, primary care, dental services, behavioral health, and specialty services. MDI Hospital welcomes all patients regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.
