LIHEAP: household income at or below 150% of Federal Poverty Level or 60% of State Median Income. Penquis serves Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties; Weatherization eligibility depends on household and home requirements. HEAP eligibility depends on household income and other factors. Weatherization has additional home requirements.
How to get started
Call (207) 973-3500 to schedule an appointment for fuel assistance. Bring required documents. Ask Penquis about current wait times. Eligible applicants are scheduled for a home energy assessment. Weatherization is provided at no cost to eligible households after a home assessment.

Penquis primarily serves Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties. They administer LIHEAP fuel assistance and the Weatherization Assistance Program, helping low-income households stay warm and reduce energy costs. Penquis has served central and eastern Maine since 1967.

What to have ready.
Bring an unexpired photo ID for the primary applicant; household members’ Social Security information and dates of birth; citizenship or legal-status proof; fuel vendor and account information; a recent electric bill; and current income documents.
