Who this helps
Shelter and adoption open to the general public. The clinic serves community pets. Companion Program discounts are based on qualifying benefits, including SSI, SNAP, TANF, WIC, Medicaid, MaineCare, VA disability, and Section 8. AWS supplies pet food to partner food pantries and community service organizations for distribution to their clients.
How to get started
Visit the shelter during open hours to meet adoptable animals. Call to schedule an appointment and ask whether you qualify for Companion Program pricing. AWS distributes pet food through partner pantries; contact a local pantry about availability.
How they can help.
The Animal Welfare Society in Kennebunk has served southern Maine since 1967. AWS operates an Adoption Center and Community Veterinary Clinic. The clinic serves community pets, and qualifying clients may receive Companion Program discounts. Their mission is to keep pets and people together whenever possible.
