Getting started.
Who this helps
Mi'kmaq Nation members in Aroostook County may qualify for LIHEAP. The proposed 2026-27 income limit is 150% of HHS poverty guidelines. ECIP is for LIHEAP-approved households with an energy crisis.
How to get started
Crisis requests receive priority. The proposed 2026-27 response targets are within 48 hours for an eligible crisis and within 12 hours for a life-threatening crisis.
Ask about LIHEAP.
Call Community Support Services at (207) 764-1972 to ask how to apply for heating fuel assistance.
Send crisis proof.
If you are approved for LIHEAP and have an energy crisis, call or text (207) 764-1972, or email [email protected], and send proof. A photo of a low fuel gauge may be accepted. Staff may contact a utility to confirm a crisis.
How they can help.
Community Support Services runs LIHEAP and ECIP. LIHEAP helps with heating fuel. ECIP provides crisis help with fuel, utility emergencies, or eviction notices for households already eligible for LIHEAP.
