Getting started.
Who this helps
Woolwich residents who are out of fuel or nearly out and cannot afford more may apply. Eligible households include retired households on fixed incomes, working households with income at or below 150% of the poverty level, seasonal workers laid off or expecting a layoff of 120 days or more, and other households in need at the Town Administrator’s discretion. Select Board members, full-time town employees, and their families cannot apply. You do not need to apply for General Assistance first.
How to get started
The General Assistance Administrator meets briefly with applicants. Applications are handled confidentially under the same rules as General Assistance.
Get the application.
Download the one-page Heating Assistance Application from the Town of Woolwich Heating Assistance page, or pick one up at the Town Office.
Bring in the form.
Take the completed application to the Town Office to apply.
Call if you cannot go.
If you cannot get to the Town Office, call (207) 442-7094 to arrange another option.
How they can help.
The Town runs this donation-funded program for emergency heating needs. Help may be provided as fuel or toward an electric heating bill.
- Up to one yearly delivery of heating oil, kerosene, propane, seasoned wood, pellets, or coal, as a grant or loan
- Up to $200 toward a CMP bill for a household with electric heat
- A second fuel delivery in a real emergency
A few questions before you go.
Be ready to provide your household size, monthly income and expenses, fuel type and supplier, and how much fuel you have left.
- How much fuel can my household get?
- What information should I prepare?
- Can I qualify if I heat with electricity?
- Could I get another delivery in an emergency?
